Laje de Pedra (2021)
I was part of an artistic residency at brazilian Canela Institute of Photography and Visual Arts (www.facebook.com/canelainstituto/), under the mentorship of visual artist André Severo (www.andresevero.com/about), to generate visual material about the traditional "Laje de Pedra" hotel which, after its bankruptcy, was purchased by a large global hotel company (https://lajedepedra.com.br/). The huge hotel was closed to the public and many wings and facilities were in disrepair. The coexistence of the old luxury with the ruins led me to seek an aesthetic that evokes an estrangement with that past that would be assimilated by the new hotel. The images selected after the curatorship are part of the "Laje de Pedra Cultural Institute" exclusive collection and were part of the book "Laje de Pedra - Origins" (ISBN 978-65-995788-2-3).
